Amazon has rocketed its way to be the #2 highest ranking retail site in Australia – so it’s just after eBay in terms of its searches.
That’s after launching barely 7 months ago.
It’s already exceeding ‘big brand’ retailers such as Coles and Woolworths – and its traffic is growing at a much faster rate than Kogan.com and Harvey Normans etc.
In other words, Amazon’s “Aussie Domination” masterplan is full-steam ahead.
And as for product selection, here’s what the AFR said:
“While Amazon’s product range in Australia is a fraction of that overseas – 60 million stock keeping units (SKUs) compared with almost 500 million in the US – it is growing rapidly (up from 7.5 million at launch)”
So if you’ve been thinking about getting started as an Amazon seller, there’s never been a better time than now.
But perhaps its most important recent innovation in Australia is also one of its simplest – the launch of Amazon Prime.
What is Amazon Prime?
Amazon Prime is a members-only service in which Amazon users pay a subscription fee to access several benefits.
Buyers can take advantage of free two-day shipping on any items that fall under the Prime banner.
Amazon also offers other shipping benefits based on location.
Some people can even access two-hour or same-day delivery on a range of items.
But that’s just the tip of the Prime iceberg.
Becoming a Prime member also provides people with access to the company’s streaming services. These include “Prime Music” and “Prime Video”.
And that’s without mentioning all of the extra bonuses for various shops and for Amazon’s book and reading services.
In Australia, Amazon users can sign up to the prime service for just $6.99 per month.
(This is cheap introductory offer as its significantly cheaper than the US).
In many cases, the company also offers free trial periods and discounted introductory offers.
Simply put, Prime is a way for Amazon users to get more out of the company.
And the idea is a major success.
Amazon Prime currently boasts well over 100 million users from all around the world.
This also offers a key benefit to Amazon Sellers, like myself, who use the FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon) service.
This is the service whereby Amazon helps you sell products on their website, by storing and delivering the products to customers for you.
Why is Prime Great for Amazon FBA Sellers?
Prime gets your “FBA products in front of some of Amazon’s most dedicated customers.
Here’s how it works.
All FBA eligible products receive Amazon’s Prime badge.
This means that the company offers all of the shipping bonuses mentioned above on your products.
That’s great news for FBA sellers.
If you can offer free shipping, you make your product even more appealing.
Your Next Best Step
Amazon’s FBA service offers a range of benefits. You get storage, customer service, and shipping all handled for you.
But many people underestimate the benefits that Prime gives to FBA sellers.
Free shipping makes your products more appealing, which means more people will buy them.
There’s so much more to learn about FBA and Prime.
